Last weekend I visited the Audium: a state of the art sound space theater built in the 70’s with 176 (or so) speakers and the whole thing done up entirely with vacuum tube amps.A charmingly pretentious old man (who after the show insisted with practiced (30 years worth) nonchalance that this sort of thing would be all over the place in “a few years”) performed a two part sonic (though not musical) composition live in the pitch black theater. The performance was a bit like being inside a Dr Who episode but the second act was legitimately engaging. If in San Francisco do visit the Audium.
